Module 6

Flikr
THis seems like a good program for personal use.  I don't really see a need for it in my classroom but may be useful for the school website or annual magazine.

THe main theme that comes through is to ensure the material presented is for educational purposes only.  I was interested in the use of wiki/blog laws.  The idea of copying information has been done for ages but by "communicating" that information on the interent for anyone to see is something new to me.  Giving access to only those that need it is the most important thing I think.  Also I'll be checking to see if the school conforms with the notice around photocopiers and restricting the students downloading and burning especially at lunckh time.
While there are exceptions to the Act for teachers and students it is something that both have to be aware of.  To overcome some issues the need for notice and labelling of things scanned into your own documents would need to be explicity taught to students.  Another way is the suggestion of linking sites to the blog instead of just copying them in.
This is an important issue that I was not really aware of and I'm sure the students are not.  The need to be careful of what we copy and communicate within education.
